The deal with Matkot
Matkot is a kind of paddle ball game that was invented in Israel way back at the beginning of the 20th century. It is played with two paddles (these are the Matkot, מטקות, or in singular: "מטקה" "matka"), which are usually made from wood, and a hollow rubber ball (Kadoor כדור-is a ball in Hebrew). The players hit the ball back and forth with the paddles, and the goal is to prevent the ball from dropping for as long as possible. There are no winners or losers, it's just fun! When you're going to the sea (in Hebrew, sea is Yam, ים) in Israel, you have to try it. It's probably the most popular beach game in the country!
